Sarah Lamstein grew up in Detroit, faithful in her weekly trips to the library. She attended Kingswood School Cranbrook, then the University of Michigan. Upon graduating, she taught high school English, and as her three children were growing, she became a school librarian. In addition to her work in the schools, Sarah has performed as a puppeteer for more than twenty-five years, a gentle version of the Punch and Judy show among her staples. Her book Annie’s Shabbat was named to Booklist’s 1998 Top Ten Religion Books for Youth. Her other books for children include I Like Your Buttons! and From the Mango Tree/Folktales from Nepal. Sarah received her MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College. She lives with her husband in Newton, Massachusetts.
