Development

Welcome to namelos development. Here we will present books we are working on with authors and artists when we feel they are ready to show to publishers. We are dedicated to developing unique and original projects that reflect an author or artist’s vision as fully as possible. Primarily we will be developing illustrated books which would not be well served by an electronic format. We look forward to partnering with publishers to bring these books to the wider world. Our role in creative development will extend to acting as the author or artist’s representative on each project we present. Please contact us for further information, and we look forward to doing business with you!

Development FAQ

How do I submit my work for representation on the namelos development site?
All manuscripts and dummies submitted for evaluation to namelos will automatically be considered for publication or representation by namelos. If you wish to have your work evaluated but not considered for future publication, please say so when you send it to us. We are always on the look-out for wonderful new projects, so we welcome the opportunity to consider your work as part of the evaluation process.
How is namelos paid for the work it does developing books to represent through namelos?
When a project is ready for presentation to publishers through namelos development, it will be featured on the development portion of the namelos site. Editors and publishers will have password-protected access to this site to enable them to peruse projects we have developed with authors and artists. namelos will represent these projects on a commission basis, and will have a written agreement with the author and/or artist confirming the terms of this relationship. This will be similar to an agent-author relationship but will work on a project-by-project basis rather than involve an author’s body of work. Our commission ranges from 15% -25% depending on the specific project and our level of involvement.
How long will you present the development projects on your site?
We will work with the author/artists on the project until we feel it is ready for presentation to agents, editors, and publishers. Then we will initially present projects for a period of six months. After that time period, if the project has not received an offer for publication, we will discuss with the author whether we will continue featuring the book.
If you work with an author on one project, does that imply that you will represent other projects by that same author?
Our development work with authors and artists will be on a project-by-project basis. We may work with some authors on a number of projects, and with others on just one.
What if an agent is interested in representing a project shown on the namelos development site?
We anticipate that we will be partnering with agents as our development work evolves, and we welcome inquiries from agents involving the authors we represent in development.
Is namelos an agency, a publisher, or a creative services group?
Yes.
